Wilderness Youth Leadership Development
All participants will begin the WYLD experience with the Community and Team-Building model, which is an immersion into the Adventure group process and exploration of adventure basics. Participants will learn to understand their own leadership styles, how teams work, and how a group can perform more effectively.
THIS PROGRAM WILL ALLOW STUDENTS TO:
Build on the basics of adventure programming
Identify and develop one’s own leadership
Deepen their awareness of accountability and responsibility
This model focuses on training young people to serve as leaders in both the facilitation and processing of activities and dialogue with their peers, younger children and adults. The next step will be for students to use their new found skills to empower their peers to lead and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The culminating experience for this course will be participating in a self designed service learning projection the participants own community.

Help Shape Our WYLD Programming!
We are thrilled to announce that our organization is taking the next step in ensuring that our WYLD (Wilderness Youth Leadership Development) programming continues to grow and positively impact our community. As part of this process, we are conducting a student survey to gather valuable feedback and insights. This survey will help us move toward becoming an evidence-based program, a designation that will allow us to refine our activities, measure the outcomes more effectively, and strengthen the quality of experiences we offer to all participants.
What does this mean for students:
Students will be asked to share their thoughts on their experiences in the program, focusing on leadership skills, outdoor activities, and personal growth.
The survey will help us understand the impact of the program and identify areas where we can improve.
All responses will be kept confidential and will only be used to enhance the quality of our programming.
A Note to Parents: Preview of the Survey We want to ensure parents are fully informed. Types of questions that will be included in the survey:
Questions about how students feel about their leadership skills and how these have developed through WYLD programming.
Questions about their comfort level with outdoor activities and whether they feel the program has helped them connect with nature.
Questions regarding their sense of belonging, confidence, and teamwork in the program.
For your convenience below is the survey that the students will be taking. This survey will provide invaluable information that will guide the future development of WYLD, ensuring we continue to provide meaningful and effective experiences.
Thank you for your support in helping us make WYLD the best it can be!
